NO AGENT, NO PROBLEM: SELLING YOUR SCREENPLAY ON YOUR OWN | CHRISTINE CONRADT
You’ve got a finished screenplay, but now you need someone who can sell it, right? Many writers tirelessly search for a manager or agent who can get their screenplays into the hands of producers or studio execs, and when they don’t find one, become frustrated and give up. The truth is, you don’t need an agent or manager to get your screenplay exposure. Christine Conradt, writer of more than 70 produced TV movies, makes a living as a screenwriter/director and has never had an agent. In this session, Christine offers strategies on how to shop a script yourself and build the relationships you need to get noticed. She discusses proper (and improper) approaches and networking tips, and teaches you how to view your writing as a business instead of a hobby. You will leave with important tools to plan your goals and strategies, and measure progress so you can concentrate your time and energy on building a strong base of Hollywood—and outside of Hollywood—connections.
HOW TO WRITE A KILLER LOGLINE AND SYNOPSIS | CHRISTINE CONRADT
You may have a great script, but unless you also have an exciting logline and synopsis, no one will want to read it—it’s your ‘sales tool’ to generate interest from producers, studio executives, and agents. Yet many writers, even those who can artfully craft a screenplay, don’t know the proper format and elements of these important pieces of writing. In this interactive session, you’ll learn how to write a compelling logline and how to expand that logline into half page and full page synopses. The session includes exercises to help you identify the seven key elements of an intriguing logline, along with actual loglines and synopses from two of Christine’s made-for-TV movies which aired on Lifetime and Hallmark. She’ll also discuss the difference between synopses and treatments, when you should reveal the ending or leave the reader hanging, and how to choose the right level of detail for synopses of various lengths.
Early bird pricing continues through March 26th. Register online for the conference. And for $50 off the registration fee, use code WDSPEAKER19.
